How come my .sav files on my R4 for DS Lite doesnt load?

i have a r4 king ll ver 1.5. Before i got it i was playing code ge on my computer so now that i got the r4 i want to put my sav in the r4. when i transfer the sav and load the rom it says new game and it wont let me load the sav data.Everything put that works great.
